The Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) is pleased to announce that Wednesday, February 18, 2026, is expected to mark the first day of Ramadan 1447 AH, and Friday, March 20, 2026, is expected to mark the first day of Shawwal (Eid al-Fitr), in shā’ Allāh.
This determination is based on the methodology adopted by MAC, which follows the opinion of the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA). The FCNA has consistently affirmed that astronomical calculations are a valid and sound Shar‘i method for determining the beginning of lunar months, including Ramadan and Shawwal. MAC adheres to this position to ensure clarity, unity, and reliability for Muslim communities across Canada.
